About the Citroen SpaceTourer platform

The Citroen SpaceTourer, a versatile and compact MPV, serves as an excellent foundation for small motorhome and campervan conversions, particularly in the micro-camper and day van segments. It shares its platform with the Peugeot Traveller and Toyota Proace Verso, offering a refined car-like driving experience with comfortable suspension and good maneuverability, making it ideal for navigating both urban environments and scenic routes. Key specifications for conversion often include its range of efficient engines, primarily 1.5L and 2.0L BlueHDi diesel units, delivering a balance of power and impressive fuel economy. While payload capacity is naturally less than larger van bases, the SpaceTourer typically offers between 800kg and 1200kg, which is ample for basic overnighting or day-trip conversions including pop-tops, internal furniture, and basic utilities. Its compact dimensions allow it to fit into standard parking spaces and under height restrictions often found in car parks. The SpaceTourer's popularity for conversions stems from its inherent comfort, ease of driving, and discreet profile – it doesn't immediately scream 'campervan' when parked up. This makes it appealing to those seeking a multi-functional vehicle that can serve as a daily driver during the week and a comfortable weekend escape vehicle. Its well-appointed interior, even before conversion, provides a solid base for insulation, flooring, and custom cabinetry. It's particularly well-suited for solo adventurers, couples, or small families who prioritise a compact footprint, ease of use, and a less obtrusive camping experience. For those not needing extensive internal standing room or full galley kitchens, but desiring a comfortable bed, basic cooking facilities, and a reliable, economical vehicle for adventures, the Citroen SpaceTourer proves to be a superb choice.
