About Hymer caravans

Hymer’s roots lie in Bad Waldsee, where Alfons Hymer ran a repair shop from 1923. In 1957 Erwin Hymer and Erich Bachem built their first caravan prototype (“Ur-Troll”) and founded the Hymer/ERIBA line. Serial production of the Hymermobil began in 1971. Over the decades the company expanded, acquiring brands and developing its lightweight PUAL body construction. In 2018 Hymer’s European operations were fully acquired by Thor Industries through its parent group Erwin Hymer Group. Hymer remains active, with ongoing model development and manufacturing in Germany.
