What is a Side Dinette in a Caravan?

A side dinette is a seating arrangement positioned along one wall of the caravan, typically featuring bench seating that faces a table. At night, side dinettes convert into single or small double beds by lowering the table and rearranging cushions. Side dinettes are space-efficient, leaving more central floor space clear for movement. They're common in caravans where the main bed is elsewhere (fixed bed or bunks) and the dinette provides additional sleeping capacity. The conversion process is straightforward but does require daily setup if used for sleeping.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Side dinette beds are typically single-bed sized (around 180x70cm). Some convert to small doubles but these are usually cramped for two adults.

For occasional use or children, side dinettes are adequate. For regular adult sleeping, dedicated beds are more comfortable.

Side dinettes run along one wall; L-shaped lounges wrap around a corner. Both can convert to beds but offer different seating arrangements.
