Coachbuilt: What it means and why it matters
A coachbuilt motorhome has a purpose-built living area constructed on a cab chassis. It offers more interior space than a panel van conversion, with an overcab bed or drop-down bed adding extra sleeping capacity.
Coachbuilt motorhomes use a manufacturer's cab-chassis (typically Fiat Ducato, Ford Transit, or Mercedes Sprinter) with a separately constructed habitation body bolted onto the rear. The overcab area. The distinctive bulge above the driving cab. Typically contains a double bed or storage. Coachbuilts offer significantly more interior space and headroom than van conversions, and can accommodate more complex layouts with separate bedrooms, larger bathrooms, and full-size kitchens. They are available from around 5.5m to 8m+ in length.
